TRUE Leadership 2017
From the TRUE Team:
“The whole weekend was an absolutely lovely time! One of our goals this year was to really step it up with the venue and bring TRUE to life with some of our own flair and I think we did a great job in accomplishing that. While we still have a few things to tweak, we got some raving reviews from the students. The only thing I think was missing was just a few more students.
Professor Prabhu Guptara was our main speaker who kicked us off every day with some great insight on globalisation and our relational thinking and drive towards working on our character. Wynelle Cowdery was our other main speaker who spoke on Crucial Conversations and how these are important in all areas of our lives, though difficult to have. Strategies were given and practiced as well as some great ideas on how to ‘state their paths’ into a pool of shared meaning and ‘explore other’s paths’ in order to move into a plan of action. The students found this very helpful especially for cross-cultural purposes."
From the students:
“True leadership was really an unforgettable experience. We all had some fantastic moments communicating and learning from each other. Plus, splendid views around the Peak District.”
“Firstly, thank you to the TRUE Leadership Team for organising an excellent conference. It was unquestionably amazing, and a great opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn, amidst a dynamic mix of cultures.”
“I learned skills that I can apply not only in the work environment but in my daily life as well. I became more confident about expressing myself and respecting others opinions. I got so much experience from the teamwork.”
“A retreat for international students who want to rise to the challenge of leadership and excellence. It was very challenging and thought-provoking. I would recommend anyone to attend the next retreat if you want to use character to excel.”
