TRUE: Leadership Training Redefined
“I learnt many things over the weekend from the lectures, the outdoor team activities and a new definition of success and team spirit.” – TRUE 2016 delegate
The 2016 TRUE Leadership retreat (June 9th-12th) saw international students coming together at the Quinta Centre in Shropshire, to grow and excel in their leadership potential.
Students from 7 different countries heard seminars that taught lessons in leadership and team work and took part in activities that challenged their communication and leadership abilities.
Guest speaker Manoj Raithatha shared poignant stories of how he grew his property empire, but eventually discovered that money didn’t give true meaning in life. Jill Garret, Executive Director of Tentpeg Consulting, gave powerful teaching on how to operate most affectively as a team. With students coming from such a diverse range of cultural backgrounds team work was always going to be a unique challenge, especially with most using a second or third language.
The 4-day retreat also featured many tasks and outdoor exercises, the highlight being the bridge building task. Each team had to work together to create a bridge that the whole team could walk over and avoid the swamp below.
“I learnt the importance of relationships, forgiveness, team building, and emotional intelligence to improve leadership skills.” – TRUE 2016 delegate
Look out for TRUE 2017, details will be announced soon. Maybe you know some international students that would benefit?
